Presentation – Show Your Pride (3 Colors Or More)

The presentation category is the first judged category of the night. This category is to present each contestant individually. Contestants can use their own music for this category, which will need to be submitted by May 1, 2023. If a contestant doesn’t have a song, music will be played for each contestant that doesn’t. The song will be announced at registration.

Presentation is self-expression. Present what you think expresses your style but in 3 or more colors of the pride rainbow. Accent colors as black or white are welcome, but they DO NOT represent 1 of the 3 colors of the pride rainbow that’s required. Prop setup and Human props are welcome for this category. Set up is 2 minutes max. Contestants will be judged on the quality of how they present themselves overall, hair, makeup, costume, modeling, and creativity.

Talent – ( 7 minutes max )

Talent presentation will be limited to seven (7) minutes. Prop setup and knockdown time will be limited to five (5) minutes in total. Talent presentations will be timed at rehearsals. Talent presentations over seven (7) minutes will have five (5) administrative points per judge deducted.

Any type of talent presentation is acceptable, except those which may cause injury to the audience or any other person. No glitter, fire, or water may be used in any talent presentation. Music must be turned in on a flash drive, or other media as directed by the promoter. You should have your talent number recorded as Track 1 and your crown number on Track 2. Do not place any other music on the USB.

Evening Gown

Evening gowns may be of any color or style. They MUST, however, be full-length. The gown must fit well, the contestant must model it elegantly and all of the elements (hair, make-up, accessories, shoes, and gown) must come together for an overall look that makes the contestant look their very best. Traditionally contestants in each division who bring a unique combination of evening gown, hair, make-up, accessories, modeling, and poise to the stage score well. This has not changed. Evening gowns usually feature a lot of embellishments, such as rhinestones, beading, etc., as well as hair and accessories which would best be described as “high drag”.

These types of gowns are appropriate for this phase of the competition. Couture gowns are also appropriate for this phase of the competition, however, contestants are cautioned this is NOT a “creative evening wear” category, and gowns that could be considered costumes should be avoided.

We also discourage gowns that are so heavily embellished that the contestant cannot model them elegantly due to the weight of the gown. Our judges are asked to educate themselves about current fashion trends and styles. Contestants should be aware that a gown, while beautiful, may appear to be of a style that is outdated and therefore may not score as well as those that do follow current fashion trends. Further, a gown with few or no embellishments (rhinestones, etc.) is able to score just as well or better than a fully-embellished gown as long as the overall look (hair, make-up, accessories, shoes, modeling, poise, and fit of the gown) makes the contestant look their very best.

Formal Wear

Formal Wear is to show creativity and individuality. Formal Wear may be of any color or style, however, a jacket is required. This is not limited to a Tux or Suit. Formal Wear should not be overdone to the point of being a costume.

Scoring will be based on creativity, originality, presentation, poise, fit, coordination, hair & make-up, and general appearance.
